Eurovision Debate

The Eurovision Debate, held every 5 years, features European Parliament presidential candidates. The event is broadcast in multiple languages across Europe.

On 23 May, the final debate between the lead candidates for the presidency of the European Commission will take place in Brussels from 15:00-16:45 CET. The Eurovision Debate will be broadcast on public service media channels and online platforms across Europe and distributed to news organizations globally by Eurovision News, and the European Parliament’s Europe by Satellite service.

The Eurovision Presidential Debate, the second edition, was broadcasted live from the European Parliament in Brussels on May 15, 2019, at 21:00 CET. This 90-minute event, provided free-of-charge, featured discussions primarily in English, with simultaneous interpretation available in all 24 official EU languages. Six lead candidates ("Spitzenkandidaten") from various political affiliations engaged in debates concerning the upcoming EU elections. Moderated by renowned TV anchors Markus Preiss, Emilie Tran-Nguyen, and Annastiina Heikkilä, the debate aimed to provide a platform for democratic discourse and engagement, addressing key issues facing the European Union and its citizens.
